Shane and Sarah Reif, co-founders of Kans for Kids, were honored Sunday, August 24, 2008, by the Kansas City Royals. They had been nominated and then chosen for the Buck O'Neil Legacy Seat Program. Marty Steinert flips hamburgers at the Kans for Kids Hamburger/Hotdog Feed held April 26. The successful event was hosted by the Hoisington Knights of Columubus and sponsored by Barton County Feeders, Great Bend Feeding, JRZ Enterprises, Shaney's, Dairy Queen and A& F Enterprises.

Roosevelt and Lincoln Elementary Schools held their annual can drive for Kans for Kids on April 24. Roosevelt was declared the winner and took posession of the traveling plaque for the next year. Roosevelt turned in 455.5 pounds of cans with Lincoln turning in 209 pounds. The event raised $400 for Kans for Kids.
