Marty Steinert flips hamburgers at the Kans for Kids Hamburger/Hotdog Feed held April 26. The successful event was hosted by the Hoisington Knights of Columubus and sponsored by Barton County Feeders, Great Bend Feeding, JRZ Enterprises, Shaney's, Dairy Queen and A& F Enterprises.

Roosevelt and Lincoln Elementary Schools held their annual can drive for Kans for Kids on April 24. Roosevelt was declared the winner and took posession of the traveling plaque for the next year. Roosevelt turned in 455.5 pounds of cans with Lincoln turning in 209 pounds. The event raised $400 for Kans for Kids.

A fund has been established for two-year-old Kaid Wagner, Great Bend, who was diagnosed in late January with a malignant brain tumor. He underwent surgery to remove the tumor and will soon begin both chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Kaid is the son of Kelsie Wagner, Great Bend. He has one sister, Kylee, age 6.
